Porsha Williams’ Estranged Husband, a Nigerian, Detained by ICE

American reality TV star Porsha Williams’ estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to Us Weekly.

Guobadia, a Nigerian-born businessman, is currently being held at Stewart Detention Centre in Lumpkin, Georgia, as confirmed by U.S. Department of Homeland Security records obtained on Friday, 21st February. His status is listed as “in ICE custody,” meaning he is under federal immigration detention.

His detention follows a recent mass deportation order, which targets undocumented immigrants for removal from the United States.

Guobadia, 60, first arrived in the U.S. from Nigeria in 1982 but allegedly overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985, according to WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta. He returned in 1986 on a work visa but again failed to leave when required.

In 1987, Guobadia was arrested and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud. He was later arrested two more times before being deported to Nigeria in 1992. However, just a month later, he managed to return to the U.S.

Guobadia applied for U.S. naturalisation in 2016, but his application was denied. His immigration troubles resurfaced in February 2024 when Atlanta Black Star reported that he had been repeatedly denied residency. At the time, he appeared unbothered by his status.

Days after the report, Williams, 43, filed for divorce, ending their 15-month marriage. The couple had tied the knot in November 2022 after getting engaged in May 2021
