Rukayat Ashiru, an 18-year-old girl, appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 28th February, accused of stealing N4 million from her boyfriend, Waris Olamilekan.
She allegedly drugged him to render him unconscious before committing the theft.
Ashiru pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges of conspiracy and stealing, as reported by NAN. Prosecutor PC Olapeju Durodola told the court that the alleged offences occurred on 30th November 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu, Ibadan.
Durodola stated that Ashiru and accomplices, who are currently at large, added a substance to Olamilekan’s drink, causing him to lose consciousness, before stealing the money. The alleged actions violate Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Ashiru bail for N2 million with two sureties. One surety must own property within the court’s jurisdiction, and the other must be a blood relative. The case was adjourned until 26th May for further hearing.
