Abdullahi Mohammed, the Chairman of the Kiru Local Government Area in Kano State, has been arrested following accusations of illegally selling land designated for the “Kafin Maiyaki Mini Stadium.”
The arrest followed an investigation by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission. Mr Mohammed is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, assisting in identifying accomplices.
According to reports from the Daily Trust, the land was purchased by a company named Mahasum for over N100 million, with payments deposited directly into Mr Mohammed’s personal bank account.
Kabir Abba Kabir, the commission’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that Mr Mohammed’s personal account received a total of N240 million between 1st November 2024, when he was sworn into office, and 27th February 2025.
