The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Abdulmalik Sanni for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old in Igbesa, located in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the state command, CSP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, 4th March, said that Sanni committed the offence on 28th February, 2025.
According to Odutola, the victim, accompanied by her father, filed a report with the police on Sunday.
“On 2nd March, 2025, at approximately 6:40 pm, a 16-year-old girl, accompanied by her father, visited the police station to report an incident,” the PPRO stated.
“According to the victim, on 28th February, 2025, Abdulmalik Sanni bought her Indomie noodles, and after consuming them, she fell asleep in his room. While she was asleep, Sanni allegedly had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and when she woke up, she found herself naked.”
Odutola disclosed that upon arrest, the suspect confessed, admitting to the crime and claiming that the 16-year-old victim was his girlfriend.
“Upon receipt of the report, a team of investigators was promptly assigned to the case. Statements were obtained from both the complainant and the suspect. Notably, the suspect provided a confessional statement, alleging that the victim is his girlfriend.”
“The investigation is currently ongoing. Following the preliminary investigation, the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further investigation.”
